Through planned giving, our generous donors have helped shape the future of WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital and the communities we serve. These are their stories.

Dr. William and Holly Funk

William Funk knows firsthand the value of having exceptional care available right in your community.

He started his dental practice at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital in 1975, offering patients access to leading-edge equipment and treatments and still strongly believes in community support.

“If we wish to continue to have high-quality local healthcare with a culture of friendliness and compassion, local support must be robust!” says Dr. Funk.

He has made a smart gift — a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) through his IRA. If you are 70½ or older, a QCD allows you to donate to Ephrata Community Health Foundation and reduce your taxable income in one transaction. You can give up to $100,000 from your IRA directly without triggering federal income taxes.

Contact us or your advisor for the important terms, conditions and timing of QCDs. You can also join others in our Heritage Society by designating Ephrata Community Health Foundation as a beneficiary of all or a portion of the remainder of your IRA.

Don and Ginnie Good

Don and Ginnie Good have always been giving people, so the decision to support WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital was easy.

In appreciation for the care two of their children received at the cancer center, and to help others who need exceptional cancer care close to home, the Goods decided to include Ephrata Community Health Foundation in their will. They also give annually but wanted their tradition of support to continue when they can no longer write that check.

“Don and I would like our legacy to keep going when we’re no longer here,” says Ginnie.

You, too, can support what’s important to you. When you include Ephrata Community Health Foundation in your will or other estate plan, you make a gift that costs you nothing today and ensures your intentions are honored in the future. Contact us to explore your options and choose the right gift for you.

Arthur and MaryBelle Graybill

Arthur and MaryBelle Graybill have strong ties to WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. The Graybills’ four children were born there, Arthur’s mother received care there several times and he served on the board for many years.

“My family and loved ones have benefited from care here,” he says. “We want to make sure that our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have the care they need now and in the future.”

The Graybills have always been loyal supporters of WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital and have strongly shown their commitment by establishing three charitable gift annuities (CGAs) through Ephrata Community Health Foundation. Their gift pays them annual income, reduces taxes and helps ensure their hope for the future.
